We cannot discuss any client or potential client with anyone – friends, family, hospitals, agencies, sponsors, etc. – without a written release of information, signed by the client. We are able to generally discuss our program and procedures (non-medical, 12-step based, basic intake procedures, etc.), but must be careful not to disclose specific information about clients.
This applies to law enforcement as well- police are not allowed to enter Dawn Farm sites without proper documentation that conforms to 42 CFR Part 2.

Inform your Program Coordinator and write an incident report if an officer is looking for a client or asking for client information.
If law enforcement is looking for a client or requesting clients information, inform them that due to federal confidentiality laws- specifically 42 CFR part 2- that Dawn Farm is not allowed to disclose any information or allow them to search the property without proper documentation. You can also provide them with the letter attached above.
