CONTRIBUTION TO MISSION & CONTINUUM OF CARE
The goal of Dawn Farm is to remove the barriers that people with addictions face to entering into recovery. The Finance Director at Dawn Farm furthers this mission by overseeing basic business operations and ensuring that financial responsibilities are completed accurately and timely. The Finance Director also provides practical support to staff by attending to the concrete needs of the agency.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Responsibilities (70%)
Oversees the Accounts Payable process, which includes posting invoices, processing payments, 1096’s, 1099’s, and reporting escheats
Utilizes general ledger software to post details of transactions
Tracks accounts receivable
Compiles information and prepares reports and bills to funding sources
Manages cash flow, transferring funds among bank accounts
Reconciles bank and general ledger accounts
Prepares annual operating budget, capital budget, and program budgets
Compiles information and prepares schedules for annual audit
Inventories and maintains records of fixed assets; accounts for acquisition, depreciation, and disposal
Analyzes financial information and prepares balance sheet, income statement, budget report, and other reports to summarize and interpret current and projected financial position
Designs and implements policies for general accounting
Designs and maintains chart of accounts
Designs system to allocate transactions to general ledger accounts to provide financial information needed by funding sources, the IRS, and internal management
Reports quarterly wages to State of Michigan Unemployment Agency; issuing payment when necessary
Designs and implements system of internal controls
Advises the Finance Committee of the Board of Directors regarding financial position
Human Resources Responsibilities (15%)
Provides oversight, and primary backup, for payroll calculation and entry into the payroll software
Provides oversight, and primary backup, for the Human Resource Generalist
Prepares workers compensation audit reports
Provides fiscal year 401k reporting for NDT Compliance Testing and 5500 reporting
Designs and administers benefit plans
Interprets employment laws and implements policies and procedures to comply with laws
Makes recommendations regarding employee policies and benefits
Analyzes personnel information and prepares reports to aid human resources management
Designs and implements systems to record and report all necessary information
Office Management (5%)
Reviews insurance policies, reports changes, handles claims
Makes recommendations regarding administrative policies and procedures
Creates administrative forms
Additional Projects (10%)
Takes on additional projects, reporting, or administrative tasks as needed
Maintains positive contact with financial providers and bill monthly as appropriate.
Assists the President in planning and/or implementation of special projects, reports or administrative tasks, as needed
Performs clerical duties as needed, including answering phone, data entry, filing, and office organization
Participates in all required trainings, staff inservices, and special events
Assists with training of new staff

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervises the Accountant, Human Resource Generalist
CREDENTIALS
BS in Accounting or Business, Master’s degree preferred
Ten years’ experience in accounting and/or business management
Human Resources experience
Able to be bonded/insured
CPR certification
RECOVERY
At least eighteen months of continuous sobriety, if in recovery from addiction.
If ever a client in any Dawn Farm program, at least one year since the date of last service.
