A Recovery Support Specialist (RSS) at Dawn Farm has two roles: a peer recovery support and a case manager/resource specialist. Dawn Farm is committed to assisting you in achieving long term recovery, and our goal is to help identify and remove the barriers that may be preventing you from joining the recovering community.
1) As a peer recovery support. For example, an RSS can introduce you to other members of the recovering community, take you to 12 step meetings, encourage you to build relationships in the recovering community, and share information about how 12 step recovery works.
2) As a case manager/resource specialist. For example, an RSS can help you identify community resources related to housing, health care, public transportation, education, employment, legal issues, and safety.
Outpatient treatment, groups at the Spera Recovery Center, transitional housing, and residential treatment (including aftercare groups) may also be included in your recovery process. These programs are designed to work together to help achieve the best possible recovery outcomes.
Participation in RSS services includes regularly scheduled contact with your RSS to discuss your progress in recovery. Your RSS can also share resources and provide additional support, as needed. Your RSS may develop written recovery plans with you to help track progress toward your goals. Dawn Farm recommends at least weekly communication with an RSS, and encourages you to personalize your RSS contact:
